How Honeymiles works

The holiday of a lifetime begins here. Instead of asking your friends and family for traditional wedding gifts you invite them to contribute to an unforgettable honeymoon.

So what are Honeymiles?

Honeymiles are essentially ‘credits’ which go towards your ultimate honeymoon itinerary. Each Honeymile is worth £10 so if a gift costs 4 Honeymiles, that’s £40. There are three ways your guests can treat you:

•    buying or contributing towards an activity such as a balloon flight, spa treatment, catamaran cruise, game drive…
•   buying or contributing towards an upgrade on your hire car, flights or hotel rooms
•   contributing Honeymiles to put towards the cost of your honeymoon (a great option for couples on a tighter budget)

Why Honeymiles?

Because it’s the ticket to your dream honeymoon. Scuba-diving, sunset cruises and personal chefs all become a reality with the help of your friends and family. Guests love it because it makes gift-buying gloriously simple. Newlyweds love it because they receive the things they really want (with no duplicate Brevilles).

Tell me more…

It starts with your own private Honeymiles microsite which is password-protected for additional security. We set it all up for you with your photograph and your message telling your friends and family all about your honeymoon travels. Your guests browse your wishlist, see which gifts are available and purchase securely online. They can also leave you a message of congratulations. You can elect to be notified as and when gifts are bought or you can leave it to be a happy surprise.

Some of our clients use their pages to add details of their wedding or civil partnership including links to the venue, B&Bs, carriage details etc. Just provide us the details and we’ll do the rest.

Creating your list

This is the fun bit! We’ve got some great ideas to get your gift list started. How about watersports like jet skiing or kite surfing? A turtle tracking expedition or a boat safari? Luxe pampering treatments perhaps or a private beach dinner with gourmet food and fine wines?

Alternatively you could ask your guests for Honeymiles vouchers to put towards the total cost of your honeymoon. The choice is yours…

What happens next?

Unlike some gift list operators we insist you leave the fiddly bits to us. That means we upload your photograph, message and all the items on your gift list and publish your pages.

Spreading the word

Letting family and friends know is easy. Some couples send login details with wedding invitations but some prefer to use our Honeymiles wizard where you upload your guests’ details and email them a direct link. After your honeymoon you can use the wizard to download an Excel spreadsheet matching gifts bought with guests’ addresses (our clients tell us it’s a godsend for thank you letters). We’ve even designed Honeymiles so it’s Facebook-compatible so you can make life even easier by adding your wishlist to your ‘wall’. We really have thought of everything!

How much does it cost?

The Honeymiles gift registry is free for couples travelling on a Western & Oriental honeymoon [some conditions apply].

Placing an order

The minimum contribution is two Honeymiles, ie £20. We accept payment by credit card, debit card and American Express . A standard 2.5% charge applies to credit card payments. Unfortunately we can’t accept payment by personal cheque, but if guests would rather phone us  to place an order using their credit card, they can do this.

Spending your Honeymiles

Once your list closes, usually a couple of days after your wedding, your honeypot of miles is transferred to your bank account, or we can send you a cheque.
