Start in chic, cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, home of the tango – give it a go yourself at one of the city’s numerous milongas (tango clubs). Stay at the contemporary Mine Hotel in Palermo Soho, the city’s hippest neighbourhood, its cobbled streets packed with boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants. Then cross the border into Brazil to travel to exciting Rio de Janeiro, a city of icons. Take a jeep to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer on top of the 710m-high peak, Corcovado. Watch the beautiful people playing volleyball on Copacabana – your hotel, the Rio Internacional, looks out onto this, the world’s most famous stretch of beach. See the sun set from the top of Sugarloaf mountain, dance some samba, take in a football game at Maracana, or just think bossa-nova thoughts with a cool caipirinha in hand on the warm sands of Ipanema.

Finish your holiday a few hours from Rio in the charming, laidback resort of Buzios, at the Pousada Casas Brancas. This is a charming boutique property, which occupies a pretty spot overlooking the sea. It’s a great place for some relaxation by the pool or as a base to explore some gorgeous beaches nearby to find your own private spot – and a fantastic way to reflect on a perfect honeymoon.
